Delhi Police Busts Lashkar-Linked Terror Module; 8 Arrested Across Tamil Nadu, West Bengal

New Delhi: The Delhi Police has busted a major terror module with alleged links to Pakistan-based terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba, Pakistan’s spy agency Inter-Services Intelligence, and Bangladesh-based extremist organisations, arresting eight suspects in a coordinated multi-state operation, officials said on Sunday.

According to investigators, the module was allegedly planning a major terrorist strike in India under the direction of foreign handlers operating from Pakistan and Bangladesh.

Six of the accused — identified as Mizanur Rahman, Mohammad Shabat, Umar, Mohammad Litan, Mohammad Shahid, and Mohammed Ujjal — were detained from garment units in Tiruppur district, a major textile hub in Tamil Nadu. The remaining two suspects were arrested from different locations in West Bengal, police sources said.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the accused were allegedly radicalised through online platforms and were in constant touch with foreign operatives who provided instructions, logistics, and funding. The suspects are believed to have been tasked with reconnaissance and groundwork for a high-impact terror attack.

Security agencies are now probing the group’s financial channels, communication networks, and possible sleeper cells in other parts of the country. Further arrests have not been ruled out.

The case is being jointly investigated by central and state agencies to ascertain the full extent of the terror network and its international linkages.
