PM Seeks Reform Report from Ministries; Three Key Changes to Be Presented at Cabinet Meet

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has directed all Union ministries to prepare a list of three major reforms along with their impact, to be presented at the upcoming Cabinet meeting likely this week. The Cabinet Secretary has circulated a fixed format, asking ministries to submit the details in a two-page note.

Sources said ministries are working at a fast pace to compile the data as part of a broader push to accelerate the Modi 3.0 reform agenda and strengthen accountability through outcome-based review.

Officials indicated that the Ministry of Consumer Affairs may highlight reforms in legal metrology and quality control. The Home Ministry is expected to present achievements in tackling Naxalism and police modernisation, while the Defence Ministry may outline steps to boost indigenous defence production and adoption of AI and quantum technologies.

The Ministry of Jal Shakti is likely to mention decriminalisation of minor violations under the Water Pollution Act, and the Road Transport Ministry may showcase the rollout of satellite-based tolling and new FASTag rules aimed at easing travel and improving transparency.
