Celebrating Wing Commander Satish Chandra Saxena at 90

Turning 90 is no ordinary milestone, and for our family, it is a moment to reflect on the remarkable journey of Wing Commander Satish Chander Saxena — our beloved Chacha — a man who has been a guiding force, mentor, and friend to all of us.

A former Wing Commander in the Indian Air Force’s Education Wing, he devoted his life to shaping young minds. As Principal and Headmaster at Sainik School, Kunjpura, he influenced generations of students with discipline, knowledge and values. Even after his retirement from defence services, his passion for education remained undiminished as he went on to head a boarding school in Jaipur.

An English Literature postgraduate from Allahabad University, he has always had a deep love for words and ideas. His literary inclination found expression in the books he wrote over the years  nearly ten in number — touching upon fiction and humane themes that reflect his sensitive and thoughtful personality.

Within the family, being the youngest among four brothers, he has always shared a warm and special bond with everyone. He has been approachable, affectionate, and someone with whom one could speak freely on any subject.

Some of my fondest memories are of summer vacations spent with him in Kunjpura. It was there that I learned swimming and, more importantly, absorbed life lessons that continue to guide me even today. In every family function  be it a wedding or a celebration — he, along with Saroj Chachi, would effortlessly take charge, ensuring everything was perfectly organised.

During our formative years, his guidance helped shape our thinking and choices in life. His words carried wisdom, but never authority — always encouragement.

As he turns 90, we may not be having a grand celebration due to our respective commitments, but the essence of the occasion remains intact. With all of us together, we will raise a toast to him — to his life, his values, and the countless ways he has enriched ours.

We wish him continued good health, happiness, and many more years of togetherness.
